Chicago, IL November 20, 2006 – The Private Company Index (PCI) climbed 42 points during the month of October. This increase places the Index at 687; representing a record high for the PCI which celebrated its first anniversary last month. Performance is up over 50% for 2006 YTD while its public counterparts, the Dow and NASDAQ Indexes, returned YTD increases of only 12.7% and 7.4% respectively.
Stephen H. Watkins, CEO Entrex, Inc which co-founded of the Private Company Index, shares his thoughts on the significance of this month’s record breaking number. “We started the PCI with the notion that this sector of private, fast growth companies with entrepreneurial spirit could, if measured in a controlled way, outperform the traditional public vehicles that the financial markets use as economic indicators. I’m pleased to see that we were correct. Comprised of companies in a variety of industries throughout North America, the PCI has outperformed our expectations. It’s increased steadily, with only slight dips on occasional months—though even our dips are still substantially higher than the baseline figure.”
Their mission in partnering with the Private Business Channel to create the PCI was to identify a tool that enables the financial marketplace to objectively measure private business productivity in real time. Based on the monthly data presented by the PCI it is apparent that the potential dividends reaped from this sector provide the opportunity for greater returns than those realized from more traditional public sources. Entrex is using the basis of this research to create a dynamic marketplace for equity interests in private and non-reporting entrepreneurial companies where accredited/institutional investors can find, research, track, manage and trade these interests….with a potential for liquidity.
The Private Company Index (www.privatecompanyindex.com) provides the financial and investment community a resource to objectively measure private business activity. The Index also allows business owners and the general public the ability to follow the trends and productivity of privately owned businesses.
The Index was created by Entrex (www.entrex.net)-the global source to find, research, track, manage and trade interests in private companies- along with the Private Business Channel (PBC) (www.privatebusinesschannel.com) an online video and television production company featuring the best-of-breed private companies on the path to open their equity to private investors.
